Bio:
I am retired and am busier in my life than ever before. I have the time to do the things I want to do and have discovered new things to try. I enjoy traveling, exploring new interests and just enjoying life. Among my interests such as wood working, painting and carving, photography has added a new dimension. To see things from a different perspective, to manipulate light and shadows and the ability to push things to what you imagined is totally rewarding to me.

  • How would you describe your photographic style?
I enjoy all aspects of photography to capture the images of what I have seen and witnessed. From travel, landscape, macro and wild life. To help preserve memories through my photography is very rewarding, satisfying and comforting. I thoroughly enjoy using Lightroom and Photoshop to enhance my images and at times pushing them into a creation of my imagination. This for me is a personally stimulating and challenging process.
  • Which photographer is your biggest inspiration?
There isn’t a single photographer but rather an exposure to many. For example, when you see the staging, lighting and composition of BBC features and the quality of work created by other photographers you become inspired. When you see the images APC members and are involved in their information sharing, the inspiration continues.
  • How long have you been interested in photography?
In my late teens I discovered the magic of photography. When the prints/slides came back from the processor I was amazed to see a moment frozen in time. A moment that would conjure up my feelings and emotions of the moment the image was taken. I also had a lot of images that were blown out, out of focus, under/over exposed but as my story goes, this seldom occurred.

The introduction to digital imaging has been amazing. After an extended period of time of not being active in photography, my son suggested we both should try out this new “thing” and this has become a very big interest in our lives. The journey goes on.

  • What was your first camera?
A Kodak box camera and then a Pentax Spotmatic with a 50mm lens and a lot of Kodak film.
  • What is your dream photo trip?
A tough question. While there are many spectacular global site to witness and photograph I think that to spend time on the Bruce Peninsula with its rocky Georgian Bay shores, sand strewn beeches along Lake Huron and the diverse fields and marshes has a large appeal to me. Waterloo county with its beautiful farm country and its diversity has a similar attraction to me.
