Looking for some photographic inspiration? Well, look no further than the current members of the Ajax Photography Club. Each month a different APC member will be featured and we will provide a glimpse into their photographic life.
This month, the featured photographer is APC member, Kelly Cullen.
Bio:
If asked who I am…I’m a nurse by education, a photographer for the love of it, and a sentimental mom who truly believes you can never have enough photos of the ones you love!
- How would you describe your photographic style?
My photography style, not sure and actually I think I am still developing my style. I do enjoy nature/wildlife and family/portrait photography.
- Which photographer is your biggest inspiration?
I can’t say I have one because many people inspire me to learn and do more with my photography. For example friends like Jamie Pelrine, who first introduced me to photography and Laurie Taylor who always finds new learning curves for us to explore. The internet has exposed me to Fro Knows Photo, Sue Bryce, Kelly Brown, Chris Marquardt, to name a few. The photo club has presented many different photographers that have inspired me to try new creative options, one of my favourite being Don Komarechka.
- How long have you been interested in photography?
I first sparked an interest in photography in high school. I wish I would have followed my passion and made it a career. Instead, I went into nursing, which is rewarding and provides a stable career. I would have loved to be a sports photographer or National Geographic photographer traveling the world, who wouldn’t!
- What was your first camera?
After college, I purchased my first DSLR, a Minolta. Then when Minolta was being replaced by Sony I made the jump to Canon and have never looked back!
- What is your dream photo trip?
In Nov 2016, I was fortunate enough to take my dream trip to Africa. We landed in Cape Town, South Africa and departed from Johannesburg. The trip was amazing and more than I could have imagined. There is still so much of Africa to see and I hope to return soon. Even before I left Africa, I knew I wanted to go back one day.
