March 17, 2026 at 7:00pm
Virtual (Zoom)

As the days grow longer with winter almost behind us, we are happy to announce our next guest speaker for this month’s meeting. We have the special pleasure of having Kas Stone speak to us about a topic that all of us are searching for in one form or another and yet remains elusive for many of us: inspiration.
As a photographer, Kas will talk to us about some important questions:
- What is inspiration and where does it come from?
- What are common inspiration roadblocks and how can we overcome them?
- How can we kick-start inspiration when we are feeling uninspired?
- How can we harness inspiration to create more compelling images?
Here is a quick bio of Kas, in her own words:
“I am a full-time photographic artist based in Nova Scotia, where my spirit is sustained and my work is inspired by the wild coastal scenery and moody weather right outside my door.
Indeed, it was my passion for wild landscapes that gave me my start as a photographer. After spending my formative years on Canadaās Atlantic coast in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, circumstances stranded me for nearly twenty years in Toronto. Never happy in cities, I escaped at every opportunity āup northā or ādown eastā where I could find the breathing room that for me is so essential.
Along with my tent, canoe and hiking boots I always took a bag full of guidebooks about the natural history and geology of the places I visited. Gradually I progressed from reading these books to writing them, and my writing needed illustrations⦠and thatās when I picked up a camera.
Now, twenty-five years later, I make my home again at the edge of the sea and my living from photography, using it to explore the landscape in the context of broader human and environmental themes. My portfolio includes an extensive list of publications, exhibitions, art/craft shows and teaching, with several books and feature articles in Canadian and U.K. magazines.”
