Peter’s BIO:

I was born in Gzira, Malta. (Don’t worry, most people have never heard of it.)
My Family moved to Toronto when I was just 2 years old. I grew up here in Toronto and have always enjoyed watching and being in nature. I always wanted to have a career were I could be in nature all day. I first got a taste of Photography in High School. I enjoyed it so much, I decided to go to Humber College to pursue it as a career.

In 2000, I was asked to create and teach classes at the Henry’s School of Imaging. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching and In 2002 I started teaching night classes at Alexander Mackenzie High School. On June 27th 2006, I decide to start my own school, and the School of Photography was born.

Peter will present his ‘Birds of Prey’ slide show and Q&A session.

We will also have our Print Competition submissions on display and present awards to all the respective winners. We wish to thank Bob Wilson and  Frans Grootveld  for all their hard work organizing this competition.

APC Annual Year end Print competition

The APC Annual Year end Print competition is now underway.

This print competition is open to all current APC members. Rules are very simple to encourage participation from all of our members. There is a limit of one image per member. All images should be cropped, with printing in mind, to 8 x 12 or 8 x 10. Please keep file sizes between 1- 5 meg in a jpeg format. (your image is being printed, not projected, so watch your DPI settings). All submissions require a “Title” at time of entry. The image must be your own, out of camera creation and not a manipulated stock or other photographer’s photo. Images may not contain any watermark identifiers and creative borders are not allowed. Some post processing enhancement/manipulation by the maker will be allowed. (as an example, use of filters, lightening/darkening, colour balance, cloning, HDR, etc.) ALL images will be printed and mounted in identical, club owned, portfolio mattes for judging purposes. The club will absorb the cost of printing. All printing will be done at the same time by the same printer to ensure a level playing ground in image results. Accredited judges will be used to score the images.

Certificates will be presented to 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions and a selection of honourable mentions in each of the 3 categories. This is a fun event and everyone is encouraged to participate. All submitted images will be displayed at our May 26th member meeting where the winners will be recognized.

Deadline for submission is Tuesday May the 5th at 11:59:59 PM.  Please submit your digital entry to our competition mail box named: pixelbobapc at gmail.com.  All entries will receive a confirmation of submission e-mail from Bob Wilson or Frans Grootveld within 72 hrs of the submission of your single image via the pixelbobapc at gmail.com mailbox.
