The APC is proud to present award winning Canadian underwater photographer, Margaret Hines as the guest speaker for our November members meeting.
Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 7:00 PM
Ajax Community Centre – HMS Room
75 Centennial Rd., Ajax, ON
Doors open at 6:30 PM
A unique fine art underwater portrait session exclusive to Margaret Hines Photography celebrates the breathtaking beauty of human movement and form by combining water’s unique play on light, its fluid and weightless qualities, with creatively captured imagery. These exquisite, ethereal portraits instill a sense of calm, magic and whimsy that is both timeless and one-of-a-kind. Her portraiture intrigues the viewer, while providing the subject with a very special personal experience to cherish.
Underwater photography is a distinctly challenging medium. The most important element of all photography, light itself, behaves quite differently underwater. The photographer, camera, subject, hair and materials are also in constant motion. It demands an amazing imagination, execution with exacting attention to detail, through to high-end retouching and final production of highly polished printed fine art pieces selected by the client to grace any home or business all within a fun, relaxed, comfortable and safe environment.
A professional photographer since 2007, Margaret has largely been focusing on her underwater work since 2008. She has been an accredited member of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) since 2010, and has won numerous national awards from PPOC as well as abroad with the International Loupe Awards in Australia. Margaret is self-taught in both creative underwater photographic techniques as well as high-end retouching skills.
Two of Margaret’s greatest assets, so important in today’s world but particularly so for underwater work, are her ability to put people at ease, and her exacting attention to detail. A combination that enables her to capture life’s truly evocative moments which are all too fleeting.
Margaret resides in Whitby, Ontario with her husband Rod and their four-footed “children”, Angus, Becky & Tiberius. Rod accompanies ‘Maggie’ on all her photography assignments above or below the surface, and is the “assistant extraordinaire”.
