The art of light painting in the world of today.
From fine art to commercial advertising campaigns, Patrick Rochon’s conference is a deep exploration of what possibilities life offers us all. Creation is the base of life, the universe and at the core of our beings. Patrick expresses this message through his art, vision and his light.

Patrick Rochon has been innovating since 1992, creating his unique style of light painting, energy art, and is now considered a master light painter. His work is regarded as intense, visionary, and highly creative. He specializes in portraits, abstract, motor vehicles and live performances. For Patrick, the idea behind light painting is to allow for the perfect moment to happen, where everything comes together in synchronicity, creating an amazing moment of magic. His true ingenuity is to have created thousands of different types of light paintings, constantly re-inventing himself. Light is his teacher. He believes that our bodies emit light and that light painting is an expression of this phenomena.

APC_Don Kom Poster Sept 2016_WEB

The start of the 2016/2017 APC season is just around the corner, and we are excited to have one of our favourite presenters back to kick off the new season. Don will be presenting his keynote “Mad Scientist Photography – Pushing Limits and Exploring Light”.

Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 27th, 2016 at 7:00 PM
Ajax Community Centre – HMS Room
75 Centennial Rd., Ajax, ON
Doors open at 6:30 PM

“Mad Scientist Photography – Pushing Limits and Exploring Light”

Photographers have always pushed limits with their equipment. In any era, the best images pushed limits – creatively, technically, and technologically. We dive into how we can push limits with our own camera gear, how we can explore the world dierently, and what the result of insatiable photographic curiosity can create. Explore beyond the impossible, because the impossible is a rolling target that gets farther away each day.

About our presenter:

Don Komarechka is a nature, macro and landscape photographer located in Barrie, Ontario. From auroras to pollen, insects to infrared, much of Don’s photographic adventures reveal a deeper understanding of how the universe works. Exploring the world that we cannot see with our own eyes has been a common thread in Don’s career as a professional photographer.

Peter’s BIO:

I was born in Gzira, Malta. (Don’t worry, most people have never heard of it.)
My Family moved to Toronto when I was just 2 years old. I grew up here in Toronto and have always enjoyed watching and being in nature. I always wanted to have a career were I could be in nature all day. I first got a taste of Photography in High School. I enjoyed it so much, I decided to go to Humber College to pursue it as a career.

In 2000, I was asked to create and teach classes at the Henry’s School of Imaging. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching and In 2002 I started teaching night classes at Alexander Mackenzie High School. On June 27th 2006, I decide to start my own school, and the School of Photography was born.

Peter will present his ‘Birds of Prey’ slide show and Q&A session.

We will also have our Print Competition submissions on display and present awards to all the respective winners. We wish to thank Bob Wilson and  Frans Grootveld  for all their hard work organizing this competition.
